Yesterday, 04.13.2008, I went for a hike (down the road from where I live) in Mt Evans wilderness area. It starts at just under 9k. I hiked to about 10k.
Most of the snow was melted, especially if the area had any southern exposure. On any north facing, or sheltered areas of the trail, there was about 1-1.5 feet of slushy, old, icy snow.
We should have absolutely no problem on the Slaugterhouse ride, 04.20.2008. It's within 2 miles of the area I hiked. Nothing regular tires shouldn't handle.
Well... guess I pushed my luck with the good snow report... I came home, late last night, to 8 inches of fresh, wet snow.
But, good news is, I'm watching it melt rapidly. I already see large pieces of my driveway showing.
Bad news is, I'm also watching dark clouds coming in over a distant mountain.
With the excellent weather report, over the next couple days... I suspect most of the snow will be melted by the time we do the Slaugherhouse ride, this Sunday.
Probably just real wet/muddy riding, if that? Bring a rain suit and / or riding gear for any weather.
